Language & Literacy - Learning Through Play

Tokoroa

Presented by NZEI.

Oral language, speech and communication difficulties are on the rise amongst our tamariki, and impact hugely on social interaction, learning, and later, on literacy.
This workshop is aimed at Early Childhood Educators, but will be relevant for Junior teachers, and interested others. We will explore:

  • Key tools and strategies to support and develop the communication skills of all children.
  • Typical development & red flags for referral to Speech & Language Therapy.
  • What the evidence says about how early language skills impact on later literacy skills after transition to school… and how we can build strong foundations in ECE for school & literacy success.
